It’s the second addition to my foundation series and boy this is an exciting one for me!

This is my Holy Grail foundation and something I have done a post about in the past. I had to include it in this series, not only it being my go to foundation but since writing a previous post, my blogging techniques have massively changed and I wanted to show that in this post.

As always, below are the claims that Estee Lauder give their Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation:

“The UK’s NO. 1 Foundation.* 15-hour staying power. Flawless all day. This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity. Won’t change colour, smudge or come off on clothes. Feels lightweight and comfortable. Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.”

Key Points:

  • Medium to high coverage
  • Long lasting
  • No noticeable scent
  • Lightweight feel
  • 28 available shades
  • Blendable
  • Matte finish
  • Liquid foundation (medium thickness in consistency)
  • SPF 10
  • 30ml bottle
  • RRP £32.50

Packaging wise, I think it’s gorgeous and really looks expensive, with the frosted glass bottle and gold lid you can see it’s a higher end product. The only downside to this product is the fact it doesn’t come with a pump and with the price you’re paying, you’d think they would include this. Luckily, I did manage to find a pump from Mac that actually fits this foundation bottle and once washed, I can use for every re-purchase of this product.

I find the coverage of this product medium but buildable to high. It gives me that flawless look all day long, from the moment I put it on to the point I take it off. I constantly get complimented when I wear this foundation on how good it looks and how my skin looks great and I put that down to this foundation.

I’m glad that they don’t over estimate their product and they stick with their 15 hour wear, which I can’t completely confirm this does, but there have been days where I’ve put this on at 7am and do not remove till 10pm and my base still looks on point and hasn’t oxidised.

Estee Lauder 2

I feel this foundation get’s me through any sort of day, whether it’s hot or cold, the foundation doesn’t change and remains untouched on my face. I never have to reapply, not even to my oily sections, which is a god send to me. Sometimes after work, I do go out for meals and I never have to worry about reapplying my base, I can confidently walk out of work, knowing my foundation is all still in place.

Apart from the pump being one of the only cons to this product, after recently purchasing it, I have noticed they have upped the price on it. I used to pay £29.50 for this foundation and now they charge £32.50. This is a great foundation, but if they keep upping the price, you are going to end up being put off.

On application, this easily blends on my skin. Like all foundations, I always work in sections, I do not apply all over and then blend, as you never know how quickly the foundation will dry. Like this one, I apply in small sections and blend out, this one does a great job when it blends, giving you that flawless, matte finish. The coverage is great and covers up all my uneven skin tones and covers most of my freckles, apart from the stubborn ones on my forehead (no foundation can cover these bad boys). Once the foundation has sunk in, it doesn’t feel tacky, but I always set with a powder, even when it’s not needed, but that’s a personal preference.

Final Thoughts

This is, hands down, my Holy Grail, favourite foundation. I am so glad people introduced me to this, otherwise I would still be hunting around for that perfect foundation and I’d end up spending even more money on trying to find it.

It gives me exactly what I want from a foundation, great coverage, flawless finish, matte look and the longevity that I have yet to experience with another product.

Without a doubt, this will be a staple product in my makeup bag for a really long time (or until a better one comes along, hard to beat though).

Overall, I would rate this a 9 out of 10, like I said, it gives me everything I need and never fails to impress me. I haven’t scored it a 10 based on the price, I have only been purchasing this product for a year and to up their price by £3 is pretty annoying really.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?

  • All products mentioned, I purchased myself and have not received any benefits for writing these posts
  • I have combination skin, this will always effect the way the foundation works, so bear this in mind when reading the reviews.
