Welcome to the first post in my foundation series!!! I am unbelievably excited about this and I really hope you enjoy it.

The first foundation I have chosen to talk about is the ‘Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hour Foundation with Comfort Serum.

So, let’s start with the claims:

“Instant perfect coverage that feels extra comfortable and lasts all day. Blends flawlessly, seamlessly, instantly and easily into the skin. Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours”

Key Points:

  • Medium to buildable coverage
  • Lightweight Feel
  • Gorgeous scent
  • 7 available shades
  • Matte Finish
  • Blendable
  • Liquid foundation (medium thickness in consistency)
  • SPF 20
  • 30ml bottle
  • RRP £7.99

I want to start with the packaging, as this will always be your first impression when you see a product.

The packaging is nice for a high street foundation, clear glass bottle with a plastic red top. The bottle does come with a pump, which is great as it makes it easier to get a good amount without going overboard, giving more control not to waste product.

It does have good coverage, but I wouldn’t say it’s perfect, it’s good for a high street foundation. It’s really lightweight, which makes it feel so comfortable to wear throughout the day.

But 25 hour wear? This is a very bold claim, I put foundation on at 7 in the morning and when I finish work, I get home for around 5.30 in the evening. At this point, I would get my sister to check how the foundation had worn throughout the day. This way I am getting another opinion from someone who can see the foundation in the same light each day and not just relying on what I could see in a mirror.  What I can say though, is after an 8 hour day at work, this foundation DOES NOT last. In fact, it’s noticeably breaks down on my chin and nose, making the finish look patchy after only a few hours. I do have combination skin and a few foundations I have tried, this does sometimes happen, so it doesn’t surprise me. But to claim it lasts 25 hours, is a very bold statement,  considering people have different skin types and on the website, you haven’t mentioned what skin this works best with.

I will admit, I am quite a hot blooded person, I naturally give off a lot of heat, so I have been really able to test this foundation to all it’s claim.  Apart from my oily areas, I will say, the other areas stayed on quite well, nothing too noticeable, but I still wouldn’t say that I looked flawless after a couple of hours of wear, 25 hours?? Not a chance!

When applying the foundation, it is very blendable and the coverage is easy to see. As I love a full coverage foundation, I would say you could nearly get high coverage with this in 2 layers. As I have freckles, I like to try and cover these, I wouldn’t say the foundation does this completely, but if gives me an even, matte finish that looks lovely. I will say, once the foundation has been applied, it is quite tacky, so definitely needs setting with a powder.

Final Thoughts

I will keep using this foundation, for the days where I don’t want a full coverage foundation and I am not doing anything where I feel I need to look completely flawless. This is the kind of foundation I would probably apply in those mad moments where I need to run into town, as I haven’t got anything to wear for Saturday night and didn’t want to scare small children with my lack of makeup. Would I be using the same foundation for my Saturday night? No chance in hell!!

I like my foundation to look flawless and stay in tact through any activity, I just feel this foundation wouldn’t last well after leaving the house.

I think it is a good foundation from the high street and good value for money if you are not looking to spend a lot. Personally it is not something I would re-purchase as I think I would not get a lot of use out of it and I have two bottles in my make up collection anyway.

Overall, I would rate it a 7 out of 10 for the fact that’s a reasonable price, good coverage and the finish is nice, it’s just not as long lasting as other foundations, which for me, is a must have in any product, as I don’t want to be touching up throughout the day.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?

Important Information

  • All foundations were applied with a beauty sponge (for best application)
  • Before applying the foundation, I moisturised with Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, Benefit POREfessional primer and Soap and Glory Speed Plump All Day Super Moisture (secondary primer)
  • All opinions in these posts are my own opinion, everyone is different, if I don’t like a product, it doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t good, it just didn’t work for me
  • All products mentioned, I purchased myself and have not received any benefits for writing these posts
  • I have combination skin, this will always effect the way the foundation works, so bear this in mind when reading the reviews.
