As most of you will know, I am a foundation addict.

There is something about a good foundation that sets off the rest of your makeup. You need to make sure you have the perfect base, before applying the rest of your products.

The CYO Long Lasting Foundation Lifeproof is a foundation that I had seen on YouTube and wondered how long it would take to reach the UK. To my relief, it didn’t take long, thanks to Boots.

I haven’t heard a lot about this brand as a whole, but I had heard great things about this foundation and I couldn’t wait to hear what the hype was about.

For £7.50, you get 30 ml of product, which is pretty standard for a foundation. When I went into Boots, after helping some Boots staff (I assume they were from a head office somewhere checking out the displays) find a product they were looking for, I was a bit thrown back by the number of shades they did. They currently offer 15 shades, which for a newly launched brand, I thought was great.

Recently I found out that I am not as pale as I thought I was, so finding my perfect shade did take some work, but I finally went for 103.

I have to be honest, I had high hopes for this foundation, as it was recommended by one of my favourite YouTubers. When I see something on YouTube, I immediately think the product must be amazing if they love it…and this time, it didn’t disappoint.

The Outside

The packaging is pretty basic, nothing to shout about, but considering the price, it’s practical. With a clear plastic container, you can see how much product you have left. I will say though; the matte pump and lid are a little annoying as they get marked and dirty so quickly and do not wipe clean easily.

The Inside

Over the last few months, I have been dabbling with lots of different coverages. I am a Queen full coverage kind of girl, but I have started venturing into lighter coverage, as my skin is getting older.

With this foundation though, the coverage is medium and buildable to high. I would say this is a semi-matte foundation, which surprisingly I liked. It’s definitely still matte, but with a nice glow without being dewy.  Although, with certain skincare products, I have made this foundation have a dewy appearance.

I found that this felt so lightweight on my skin and doesn’t cake at all. I actually feel like I’m not wearing makeup at all, some days I completely forget I’ve got it on. Do you ever do that? Accidentally rub your face, then remember you have makeup on?

When writing this review, I did do some research online, to find the link to get the price. One of the claims is that it can do a “24-hour shift”. Now I can’t and won’t be trying this. I am a girl who loves to try and get her beauty sleep. Oh god do I need it! But what girl wears foundation for 24 hours anyway. What I can say though is, I put this on at 7 am and don’t take it off until 6-7pm. Do I still look flawless? No. But it’s doesn’t break down like other foundations I have.

To me, it just fades slightly and only round my mouth and chin area, which has always been a problem for me. But it doesn’t split or look cakey, which is what I usually get.

I haven’t found that it oxidises at all. It stays to try to colour all day. But when purchasing always do it outside the shop, in natural lighting. In the shops, the lighting isn’t great, too bright and it has tricked me so many times in picking the wrong shade. Pop a bit on, on your chin and onto your neck and just pop outside and check it out with a mirror. Best way to colour match in a shop.

The foundation does need setting, it’s not one that you can apply other products to without setting first. If anyone knows a good setting powder, that doesn’t mattify the foundation, let me know. I love the finish of this foundation, but all my powders make my base matte immediately.

This has been my go-to foundation for months now. It has been going everywhere with me for all occasions, but I especially use it for every day.

For the price, I think it’s an amazing foundation and one I have been recommending to friends and family.

I personally think this applies better with a brush, packs the foundation on nicely. I do sometimes have to use a sponge to do my nose, otherwise, it can be quite streaky.

Would I repurchase? 100%! This is something I will always have on my vanity. One of the best drugstore foundations I have come across in a long time.

Have you guys tried this foundation? Or any recommendations?
